Newcastle comfortably secures a place in the FA Cup fifth round by defeating Fulham with a score of 2-0.

Dan Burn of Newcastle United was the hero of the night as he celebrated scoring his team’s second goal during the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on January 27, 2024 in London, England.

In a thrilling encounter, Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn found the back of the net, leading Newcastle to a 2-0 victory over Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday evening. The match took place at the iconic Craven Cottage, where both teams fought tooth and nail for a spot in the next round.

Despite making seven changes from their Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool earlier in the week, Fulham started the game strongly and dominated much of the first half against Eddie Howe’s men. Howe, who is currently facing pressure with his team sitting in 10th place in the league, knew that a strong FA Cup performance could potentially secure his position as manager.

Against the run of play, Newcastle managed to break the deadlock as Longstaff seized the opportunity and capitalized on a loose ball that had clipped Bruno Guimaraes’ hand. VAR reviewed the incident and allowed the goal to stand, much to the delight of the Newcastle faithful.

In the second half, Newcastle continued to press forward and were rewarded for their efforts just after the hour mark. Burn displayed his predatory instincts as he pounced on a close-range opportunity, converting a rebound after Sven Botman’s header was saved by the Fulham goalkeeper.

Fulham boss Marco Silva attempted to turn the tide of the game by introducing Joao Palhinha and Raul Jimenez with approximately 15 minutes remaining. However, Newcastle’s resolute defense held firm, denying Fulham any chance of a comeback.

With this impressive victory, Newcastle United progresses to the next round of the FA Cup, providing a glimmer of hope for Eddie Howe’s future as manager. The team’s performance showcased their determination and ability to overcome adversity, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next cup clash.
