Morocco made history by winning the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a dominant 6-0 victory against their north African rivals Egypt.
In a historic display of skill and dominance, Morocco’s Soufiane Rahimi led his team to a resounding 6-0 victory over Egypt, securing the Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. Rahimi’s two goals in the match brought his tournament tally to an impressive eight goals, making him the first player to score in six consecutive matches at the Games.
The match started off with both teams creating opportunities, but it was The Atlas Lions who struck first with two goals in just three minutes during the first half. Abde Ezzalzouli opened the scoring with a sublime curling shot from the left side of the area, followed by Rahimi’s clinical header to double Morocco’s advantage.
Despite Egypt’s efforts to regain control in the opening period, their hopes were dashed within six minutes of the second half as Bilal El Khannouss effortlessly weaved through the middle and slotted a low shot into the far corner from the edge of the area.
Rahimi continued to shine, capitalizing on an exquisite pass to extend Morocco’s lead on the 64th minute. He then turned provider, delivering a precise cut back for Akram Nakach to stab home another goal.
The Pharaohs endured pure misery throughout the match, and their suffering was compounded three minutes from time when Achraf Hakimi unleashed a sensational 30-yard free kick, leaving Egypt’s goalkeeper helpless.
This result marks a historic achievement for Tarik Sektioui’s side, as they secure their best-ever finish at an Olympics with a podium position. On the other hand, Egypt leaves the tournament empty-handed for the third time in Games history.
