Mohamed Salah acknowledges that a new contract with Liverpool is still a long way off following his outstanding performance in the victory against West Ham.

**Salah’s Future Uncertain Despite Stellar Performance in Liverpool’s 5-0 Rout of West Ham**

Mohamed Salah has revealed that he remains no closer to signing a contract extension with Liverpool, despite his dazzling display in a 5-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium. The Egyptian forward was instrumental in the win, scoring the third goal and providing two assists for teammates Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota.

In addition to Salah’s contributions, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold also found the back of the net, helping the league leaders extend their advantage to eight points over Nottingham Forest. However, the focus post-match was on Salah’s contract situation, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

When asked about the possibility of a new deal, Salah was candid in his response. “No, we are far away from that,” he told Sky Sports. “But again, I don’t want to put something in the media and then people start saying stuff. Nothing really moved on, but I am focused with the team, and hopefully we will win the Premier League.”

Salah’s comments come after he previously indicated in November that he felt “more out than in” regarding contract negotiations, revealing he has yet to receive a new offer from the club. With 17 goals and 13 assists to his name this season, the prospect of losing Salah would undoubtedly be a significant blow for the Reds.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah emphasized that his primary focus is on securing the Premier League title for Liverpool. “I am glad about the result; we managed to score the goal early,” he said. “We dominated the game very well, and that is the most important thing. We also managed to score a few goals.”

He continued, “The only thing on my mind is that I want Liverpool to win the league, and I want to be part of that. That is the only thing I have been focused on since the beginning of the season. I will do the best for my team to win the trophy, and we are heading in the right direction, but of course, there are teams that are trying to catch up with us.”

Salah acknowledged the competition, stating, “They are very good teams, so we just need to stay focused, humble, and work hard so we can go again.” Reflecting on his performance, he admitted to feeling a bit frustrated by some missed chances but ultimately expressed satisfaction with the team’s result.

“I am just trying to enjoy the game. At the end of the day, I came here for the result; I want the team to win and I want to do something in the game. I am glad I did, but I am always hungry for more.”

Arne Slot, the manager of a rival team, weighed in on Salah’s performance, suggesting that it would be fair to label him the best player in the world given his sensational start to the campaign. “If you look at his numbers, you can argue that Salah is the best player in the world,” he said. “There are different players playing in different leagues that have a lot of quality. If you look at Salah’s numbers, and today, he could have scored even more.”

Slot also praised Salah’s work rate off the ball, adding, “He is in a very good place. Let’s hope he can stay like this for a long time.” As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Salah, both for his on-field exploits and the ongoing saga of his contract negotiations.
