Martin Keown is unsure if Jude Bellingham is at a world-class level, while Rio Ferdinand firmly stands by his support for Bukayo Saka.

TNT Sports pundits Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown recently had a lively debate about the talents of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka. This discussion took place as Arsenal prepared to face Porto in the UEFA Champions League. Bellingham has been impressing at Real Madrid, while Saka has become a key player for Arsenal as they strive to end their Premier League title drought, which has now lasted almost 20 years.

During the debate, Ferdinand included Bellingham in his list of current world-class players. This decision raised eyebrows from Keown, who questioned Ferdinand’s choice. Ferdinand defended himself by explaining that creating a list makes it easier for him to identify world-class players. He mentioned other players such as Edison, Allison Becker, Kyle Walker, Virgil van Dijk, Rodri, and Kevin De Bruyne to support his argument. Ferdinand asked Keown if he disagreed with any of these players being on the list.

Keown, a former Arsenal defender, responded by suggesting that Ferdinand purposely left out Saka to provoke Arsenal fans. He pointed out that Saka has been the England player of the year for the last two years, while Bellingham hasn’t received that recognition. Keown speculated that Ferdinand may have been mischievous in his selection.

Despite their differing opinions, both pundits agreed that Bellingham and Saka, aged 20 and 22 respectively, have the potential to become world-class players. Ferdinand acknowledged that Bellingham is edging towards that status but needs more time to establish himself. He also mentioned that Saka has the potential to be world-class but hasn’t had the exposure to the knockout stages of the Champions League like the other players on his list. Ferdinand emphasized the importance of longevity and performing in prestigious games to be considered among the world’s best players.
