Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United must embrace a more traditional, optimistic approach, but assures fans that the team will return to their rightful place.

Marcus Rashford, the talented forward for Manchester United, appeared disheartened during the recent Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round match against Nottingham Forest. The game took place at City Ground on February 28, 2024, in Nottingham, England.

Rashford, who had an exceptional season in 2022/23 with 30 goals in all competitions, has struggled to replicate his previous form. Additionally, Manchester United is facing difficulties in the Premier League and is currently eight points behind the top four, making it challenging to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the team’s struggles, Rashford remains optimistic and believes that the lack of “old-school positive energy” is hindering their performance. He intends to use any negativity as motivation to improve. As a devoted United supporter, Rashford understands the frustrations of the fans and calls for their unwavering support.

In a heartfelt message on The Players’ Tribune, Rashford expressed his appreciation for the fans’ support and emphasized the importance of a positive atmosphere. He stated, “We need more of that old-school positive energy around the club. I know what that kind of atmosphere can do because it kept me going through my worst moments.”

Rashford has faced criticism from the media and a small section of United fans, questioning his recent performances. However, the England international asserts that his commitment to the club cannot be doubted. He is willing to accept criticism from various sources but urges people to show more humanity when it comes to his family.

The 26-year-old believes that the current United squad, under the management of Erik ten Hag, has not yet reached its full potential. Rashford sees any doubt or negativity as an opportunity to prove himself and his teammates. He stated, “Every single time I’ve been down, physically or mentally, I always feel like that’s when I turn it around and play my best football for United and England.”

Rashford is confident that the world has not witnessed the best of the United squad and its players. He is determined to bring the team back to the Champions League and is excited about the upcoming international tournament. Rashford concludes by saying, “We will be back where we belong. We just have to keep working, and that starts with me. If you back me, good. If you doubt me, even better.”
