Manchester United were given a scare by Newport in a thrilling encounter, as they tossed away a two-goal lead for the third time this season. Despite the scare, United managed to secure an FA Cup fifth-round tie with either Nottingham Forest or Bristol City.
The match started well for United, with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring just seven minutes into the game. It was a fantastic finish at the end of a brilliant move. United quickly doubled their advantage, with Kobbie Mainoo scoring his first goal in senior football. With just 13 minutes on the clock, it seemed like the tie was already decided in United’s favor.
