Manchester United is getting ready to acquire both Matheus Cunha and Victor Osimhen, while the future of Marcus Rashford remains uncertain.

United target Osimhen and Cunha

Manchester United are reportedly set to sign both Victor Osimhen from Napoli and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.

Moves for the two forwards would be funded in part by the departures of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony.

The Mirror explains: “They are toiling to their worst season in Premier League history and could end the campaign just one place above the relegation zone, but Manchester United’s pursuit and likely capture of Victor Osimhen from Napoli and Matheus Cunha from Wolves shows the fallen giants have not lost their pulling power.”

“It says everything about the less haphazard and more strategic approach to recruitment that United have identified their two main transfer targets and are moving swiftly to get them over the line as quickly as possible.”

“The jettisoning of Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho on loan for the rest of the season is likely to lead to permanent exits for all three this summer, with Casemiro and Alejandro Garnacho also potentially on their way as United look to raise revenue to fund Amorim’s squad rebuild.”

Rashford future up in the air

The Telegraph believes that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is not certain to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

He is on loan at Aston Villa at the moment, but is yet to take a decision on where he sees his long-term future.

The paper reports: “Marcus Rashford is targeting a club that can offer Champions League football this summer but the prospect of a swap deal involving the Manchester United outcast has been dismissed.”

“The England striker is currently on loan at Aston Villa and it seems unlikely he will return to play for United while Ruben Amorim remains as head coach.”

“A decision on Rashford’s future is not expected until the summer. His representatives are unlikely to sit down for talks with United before June but the player is known to want to carry on playing in the Champions League next season after his return to the competition with Villa in recent months.”

“The 27-year-old is keeping his options open although he is thought to be reluctant to move to London. Rashford has been linked with a potential player exchange involving Villa’s Ollie Watkins or Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace, but those close to him have ruled out such a scenario given the complexities that would be involved in any such swap deals.”

Bournemouth name Semenyo price

Antoine Semenyo is another forward attracting attention from Manchester United, but Bournemouth are not willing to let him go on the cheap.

The Athletic reports that Bournemouth want around the same money as they got for Dominic Solanke last year.

The website states: “The sticking point for any suitor is that Semenyo signed a new contract last summer and Bournemouth are likely to want similar to the £65m ($87m) Spurs paid for Dominic Solanke last summer.”

“Though he is 25, this is only Semenyo’s second full top-flight season. Few wide players in the Premier League have his repertoire of qualities with and without the ball, and his two-footedness allows him to play as an inside-forward, an out-and-out winger or even an attacking wing-back.”

“Semenyo has said he wants to play for a Champions League or Europa League team. A strong run to end the season could see that become a reality this summer, at Bournemouth or elsewhere.”

Cifuentes considers QPR exit

QPR manager Marti Cifuentes could decide to leave after becoming unsettled with some decisions at the club.

The Championship manager was linked to Sunderland last year, and his departure could interest both Norwich and West Brom.

The Sun writes: “QPR boss Marti Cifuentes could quit the club this summer after a breakdown in his relationship with chief executive Christian Nourry.”

“Spaniard Cifuentes, who joined Rangers from Swedish side Hammerby in November 2023, has grown frustrated with the direction the club is heading under Nourry – who was brought in to oversee the club’s recruitment in January last year.”

“Cifuentes, who signed a new contract in September, was linked with the Sunderland job last summer.”

“The Loftus Road manager’s potential availability could interest Norwich and West Brom, who sacked Johannes Hoff Thorup and Tony Mowbray respectively on Easter Monday.”

“The highly-rated 42-year-old is hugely popular with the QPR fans after keeping the club in the Championship last season.”
