Manchester United are once again showing interest in Xavi Simons and are also looking to sign Matthijs De Ligt in a double Dutch move.
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Paris Saint-Germain as they intensify their pursuit of midfielder Xavi Simons. The Red Devils are facing competition from Manchester City and Arsenal for the 21-year-old Netherlands international, who spent last season on loan with RB Leipzig. Simons played a crucial role in helping his national side come from behind to defeat Poland in Euro 2024 on Sunday.
According to The Sun, Manchester United had previously agreed to a £50 million transfer fee for Simons last summer and have now reignited their interest. L’Equipe claims that United have reached out to PSG regarding a potential transfer deal. However, they face stiff competition from Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, all of whom have also expressed their desire to sign the talented midfielder and have been in contact with the French champions.
In addition to their pursuit of Simons, Manchester United are also exploring a deal for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt. The Red Devils are in need of a central defender following Raphael Varane’s departure this summer. The Sun reports that United are planning a bid for De Ligt, who has been given a price tag of £42 million by Bayern Munich. With uncertainties surrounding the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, United are actively seeking reinforcements in their defense.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are refusing to give up in their pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The Blues are reportedly willing to offer a player-exchange deal to entice Palace into selling Olise. The Mirror suggests that Chelsea could offer Trevoh Chalobah or Noni Madueke as part of the deal. The Telegraph also mentions Chalobah as a potential option for a part-exchange, while Palace themselves may inquire about the availability of Madueke.
It is worth noting that Olise’s release clause, believed to be around £60 million, can only be triggered by teams in the Champions League, which Chelsea narrowly missed out on last season. Under new manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea will be looking to strengthen their squad and improve their performance in the upcoming season.
