**Petit Praises Young Sensation Yamal as Arsenal Legend Reflects on His Career**

In a recent appearance on TNT Sports’ show *What I Wore*, former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Emmanuel Petit lavished praise on 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, declaring that the young talent possesses “everything” needed to succeed at the highest level.

Petit, who enjoyed a storied career in football, spoke with palpable admiration for Yamal, who has been making waves for both his club and country, particularly with the Spanish giants Barcelona. The ex-France international was visibly impressed by the teenager’s performances, highlighting his remarkable skill set.

“It’s Lamine Yamal, 17 years old,” Petit stated, almost incredulously, as he reflected on the prodigious talent. “He does things on the pitch incredibly. He’s having a great season so far with Barcelona, and he won a big trophy last season with his national team. He was probably the best player during a European tournament – at just 17 years old.”

Petit continued to extol Yamal’s virtues, noting his versatility and decision-making abilities. “This guy, I would pay money to watch him. He can play right-footed, left-footed, he can dribble with both feet, so it’s impossible to defend against him. And on top of it, he’s so dynamic. He’s quick, he’s fast, and he always makes the right decision with the ball.”

The former Arsenal star also highlighted Yamal’s intelligence and vision on the pitch, stating, “He’s got everything at 17 years old already.”

**Reflecting on His Time at Arsenal**

Emmanuel Petit’s own journey in football began in France, where he played nearly 300 matches before making the move to Arsenal in 1997 under the guidance of fellow Frenchman Arsène Wenger. His impact was immediate, helping the Gunners clinch the Premier League title in his debut season, followed by an FA Cup triumph. That summer, he also celebrated winning the FIFA World Cup with France.

During his time at Arsenal, Petit made 118 appearances before transferring to Barcelona in 2000, but he fondly recalls the memories he created in north London.

“I have a big character and personality, and in France, they used to put me away on the side, always pointing the finger at me,” he reflected on his time at Monaco. “When I first came to England, I thought to myself, ‘I’ve got much more crazy guys around me here’. It’s like rock and roll, loud music before the game.”

Petit reminisced about the vibrant atmosphere in the Highbury dressing room, recalling, “You had a bar on the ceiling, and they were climbing, doing gymnastics with loud music and things like that. I loved it because this is the way I used to prepare myself every single game. Not putting too much pressure on the game, so when I entered the dressing room, I knew straight away I was at the right place.”

As Petit continues to follow the game, his admiration for young talents like Yamal serves as a reminder of the excitement and potential that the future holds for football.
