Kylian Mbappe warmly greets the packed Santiago Bernabeu stadium during his official presentation as a Real Madrid player.
Kylian Mbappe’s long-awaited move to Real Madrid has finally been completed, fulfilling his childhood dream. The Frenchman was greeted by a raucous Santiago Bernabeu crowd, speaking in fluent Spanish and wearing a beaming smile as he embraced his new club.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been an admirer of Mbappe for some time, and this summer he successfully lured him away from Paris Saint-Germain to join the reigning Champions League and La Liga holders. Mbappe expressed his joy, describing himself as “one happy guy” in front of the Madrid faithful.
However, the 25-year-old has endured a challenging few weeks since announcing his move to the Spanish capital. He suffered a broken nose while playing for France at Euro 2024 and was reluctantly forced to wear a mask as his national team underperformed. Despite the setback, Mbappe only managed to score one goal during the tournament but has decided to forgo the Olympic Games in order to focus on his new club.
“It’s such an incredible feeling to be here, just incredible. I spent endless nights dreaming about one day playing for Real Madrid, and today I’m one happy guy,” Mbappe expressed with a smile, proudly wearing the pristine white Madrid shirt.
He went on to thank President Florentino Perez for his unwavering belief in him, acknowledging the challenges they faced to make the transfer happen. Mbappe also expressed gratitude to those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure his dream move became a reality.
“My family are so happy here, I can see my mum crying. Now I have another dream. That’s a dream of living up to this club’s history. I can promise that I will give it my all for this club and for this badge,” Mbappe passionately declared.
The Frenchman also took a moment to inspire the young fans in attendance, reminding them that he was once just like them, with a dream that has now come true. He encouraged them to pursue their passions and believe in their ability to achieve their goals.
With a kiss of the badge, Mbappe hailed Real Madrid as the “club of my dreams and the biggest club in the history of world football,” before exclaiming “Hala Madrid” in unison with the Bernabeu faithful.
President Perez also addressed the crowd and Mbappe, acknowledging the love and connection the player has felt for Real Madrid since his childhood. He praised Mbappe’s determination in overcoming obstacles to reach his dream.
While Mbappe will not join his new teammates for their summer tour in the US, he could potentially make his debut in the UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta in Poland on August 14. It would be a remarkable start to his Real Madrid career if he were to lift silverware in his first appearance for the club.
Mbappe joins an already star-studded squad, which includes the likes of England’s Jude Bellingham and Brazil’s Vinicius Junior. The stage is set for Mbappe to make his mark and continue his rise to superstardom at the illustrious Real Madrid.
