Kylian Mbappe has agreed to a five-year contract with Real Madrid, while Bayern Munich sets their sights on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Kylian Mbappe, the French football sensation, has reportedly signed a lucrative five-year contract with Real Madrid. The Mirror claims that Manchester City were also interested in the player, but it seems that Mbappe has made up his mind and chosen Spain as his future destination. According to Spanish outlet Marca, Mbappe has already put pen to paper on the deal, which will keep him at Real Madrid until 2029. The club is said to be willing to make him their highest-paid player, with the contract worth between £12 million and £17 million. Although this is a decrease from his current annual salary of £22 million at Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe is set to receive a staggering £85.5 million signing-on fee.
In a surprising turn of events, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Manchester United manager, has emerged as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. The Sun reports that Bayern are considering a move for Solskjaer, who has been without a job since his dismissal from Manchester United in 2021. Tuchel is under immense pressure after suffering three consecutive defeats, including a 3-2 loss to Bochum on Sunday. Bayern are currently at risk of an early Champions League exit and are eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern are monitoring Solskjaer as a potential interim solution, but the club’s original plan is to stick with Tuchel until the end of the season.
Gareth Southgate, the England national team manager, is keeping a close eye on three uncapped midfielders as he prepares to select his squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. The Mail reports that Southgate is concerned about the form of Kalvin Phillips, who has struggled since joining West Ham and was sent off in their recent 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. As a result, Southgate is considering potential replacements, including Manchester United teenager Kobbie Mainoo, who impressed with a stunning winner against Wolves. Everton’s James Garner and Fulham’s Harrison Reed are also being monitored, while James Ward-Prowse of West Ham remains on Southgate’s radar despite not earning a cap in almost two years. Despite Phillips’ slow start at West Ham, he is still an important part of Southgate’s plans.
