Kyle Walker only takes advice on his performances from England manager Gareth Southgate and his mother.

In a recent interview, Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel praised the England national team, describing them as a “better side now than ever.” The Leicester City shot-stopper highlighted the world-class talent within the squad and expressed his admiration for their performances in recent years.

One player who has been in the spotlight is Kyle Walker, the Manchester City right-back. When asked about how he handles opinions on social media, Walker revealed that he only values the post-match opinions of two people – his mother and England manager Gareth Southgate. He emphasized that he doesn’t read social media comments and prefers to focus on what his loved ones and the gaffer have to say.

Walker stated, “It’s what I call the top 10% that is going to separate you from being a very, very good player or an average player. If you have outside noise then people take it in different ways. I’d rather concentrate on what the gaffer says and what my mum says! She always says I have a good game and I take it from there really.”

Southgate himself admitted that he avoids social media and finds his world to be a “happier place” without it. He acknowledged that in the past, players used to read newspapers, but he now prefers to shut himself off from online opinions. While he acknowledged that this may not be ideal from a global perspective, he believes it is better for his own well-being during the tournament.

Reflecting on England’s performance in their previous match, Southgate expressed his satisfaction with the players’ efforts. He acknowledged the pressure they faced and praised their strong start and solid defensive display. Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Denmark, Southgate emphasized the need for improvement and acknowledged the strength of their opponents.

He said, “We know that we can play better than we did the other day. But I thought the players, in what is an incredibly pressurized moment, started the game exceptionally well and defended brilliantly throughout the whole game. And I think they’ll be better for that game, physically and emotionally.”

Southgate also called on his players to enjoy their victories and not take them for granted. He acknowledged that England has had success in the past and hopes that the current squad can find joy in their achievements. However, he remained focused on the task at hand, which is qualifying from the group stage.

In terms of team news, Southgate confirmed that Luke Shaw is still unavailable for selection. While the Manchester United left-back is on track in his recovery, he requires more work before returning to action.

Overall, England’s preparations for the match against Denmark seem to be in full swing. With the support of their manager and the belief in their abilities, the team will be looking to secure another victory and continue their journey in the tournament.
