Jurgen Klopp shifts his attention to the Premier League following Liverpool’s elimination from the Europa League.
Jurgen Klopp, the head coach of Liverpool FC, expressed his desire to shift the team’s focus back to the Premier League following their exit from the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals against Atalanta. Despite the disappointment of the loss, Klopp highlighted the positives from their improved performance and emphasized the importance of the upcoming league match against Fulham.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Klopp stated, “We won the game and that’s the reaction we wanted to show. We knew that it would be difficult; Atalanta deserved to go through and that’s fine and we can now focus on the league. That’s exactly what we’ll do from now.”
While there were mixed emotions about their elimination from the Europa League, Klopp expressed satisfaction with the team’s efforts. He acknowledged that the tie was lost in the first leg but praised the commitment, power, and desire shown by his players in the second leg.
Klopp specifically highlighted the impressive performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold, stating, “If Trent was a bit fitter, he could go a bit longer. How he started the game was absolutely insane; they had no clue how to defend that, but he was running out of gas slightly and we missed that.”
Looking ahead to the match against Fulham, Klopp acknowledged the challenge they would face and emphasized the need for recovery. He said, “We won a game, we are back to winning ways now and we have two-and-a-half-ish days’ time to make sure we recover for the game against Fulham, which will be a tricky one. We have to see who can go again.”
Overall, Klopp remained optimistic and determined to focus on the Premier League title race, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the team’s success.
