Jurgen Klopp has announced that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is back in the running, and he has criticized those who have been critical of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reassured fans that he did not rush Trent Alexander-Arnold back from injury, following the defender’s setback during their victory over Burnley. Alexander-Arnold had been sidelined for three weeks with a knee issue before returning to action against Burnley. However, he did not come out for the second half and will now miss the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on February 25.
Klopp addressed the speculation surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s return, stating, “I wasn’t really aware of it but I caught some of the news, there was a discussion we might have forced Trent back. He has had setbacks and nobody wants that. As long as I’ve been here we’ve never forced anyone back. But we work in a high-performance area. We always try to catch them at the earliest moment, unfortunately, when we catch that early nobody speaks about that.”
The German manager also provided updates on the fitness of other players, revealing that Dominik Szoboszlai and Thiago Alcantara are still sidelined. However, there is positive news regarding Mohamed Salah and other members of the squad, with Salah back in full training and available for selection.
Looking ahead to Liverpool’s upcoming match against Brentford, Klopp acknowledged the challenge that awaits his side at the Gtech Community Stadium. He highlighted Brentford’s style of play, the return of their players from the Africa Cup of Nations, and their well-coached set-pieces as potential threats.
Klopp emphasized the need for his team to approach the game with a similar mindset and praised the resilience shown by his players in recent matches.
The match between Brentford and Liverpool will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate. Fans can also subscribe to TNT Sports through various TV platforms.
