Jadon Sancho is eagerly anticipating the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid.

Jadon Sancho, the Borussia Dortmund winger, has described reaching the Champions League final as a “surreal” experience. Sancho played a crucial role in both legs of the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, providing attacking flair in the first leg and contributing defensively in the second. Dortmund secured a 2-0 aggregate victory and will now face Real Madrid in their first European final since 2013.

Speaking to CNN ahead of the final, Sancho expressed his disbelief at the achievement, saying, “To be fair, it felt surreal. Again, it still hasn’t hit me. I’m sure in the next couple of days probably when we travel to London, that’s when it’s going to hit me properly.”

Sancho also expressed gratitude to his team and staff for welcoming him back to Dortmund after being frozen out of the Manchester United side earlier in the season.

The final being held at Wembley Stadium holds special significance for Sancho, who was one of three players to miss penalties in England’s Euro 2020 final shootout against Italy. The trio faced racist abuse on social media following the match, and Sancho admitted that he is still trying to recover from the experience. He described the backlash as “not nice” and a memory that he tries to block, but acknowledged that he cannot ignore it and is working on staying positive.

One intriguing subplot of the final is the matchup between Sancho and his former Dortmund teammate, Jude Bellingham. The two players formed a bond during Bellingham’s time at the club, and now they will face off on football’s biggest stage. Sancho believes that Bellingham, along with Real Madrid’s Vinícius Junior, could be in contention for the Ballon d’Or. He also highlighted the threat posed by Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé, who is rumored to be joining Real Madrid.

Sancho expressed his admiration for Mbappé, describing him as a player who “gives goals, gives assists” and is a threat to any team in the world. He also expressed his awe at the prospect of Mbappé, Vinícius, Bellingham, and Rodrygo all playing together for Real Madrid, calling it a “scary” proposition for opposing teams.
