Inter Milan 4-0 Atalanta: Lautaro Martinez scores once more as Inter increase their Serie A advantage to 12 points.
Inter extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 12 points after a dominant 4-0 victory over Atalanta at home. Simone Inzaghi’s side have been unstoppable since the start of the year, not dropping a single point.
The match started with a scare for Inter as Charles De Ketelaere scored for Atalanta in the 11th minute. However, the goal was disallowed after a VAR check, much to the relief of the hosts.
Inter quickly capitalized on this stroke of luck when Matteo Darmian opened the scoring with his second league goal of the season.
Just before half-time, Inter doubled their lead with a stunning strike from Lautaro Martinez from the edge of the box. The Argentine forward had another opportunity to add to his tally early in the second half when Hans Hateboer was penalized for a handball after another lengthy VAR review. Unfortunately, Martinez’s effort was saved by Marco Carnesecchi, but Federico Dimarco was there to pounce on the rebound and fire it into the net.
To complete a fantastic night for the league leaders, substitute Davide Frattesi headed home a cross from Alexis Sanchez, sealing a comprehensive victory for Inter.
This win further solidifies Inter’s position at the top of Serie A, extending their lead to an impressive 12 points. They continue to dominate the league and show no signs of slowing down.
