Stopping Mbappe key to Dortmund realizing their ‘dream’, say Terzic and Can.
In a recent interview, Borussia Dortmund’s interim coach Edin Terzic and midfielder Emre Can emphasized the importance of stopping Kylian Mbappe in their upcoming Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain. The German side is hoping to advance to the quarter-finals and believes that containing Mbappe will be crucial to their success.
Terzic stated, “Mbappe is a world-class player and one of the best in the world. He has incredible speed and skill, and can change the game in an instant. If we want to realize our dream of progressing in the Champions League, we need to find a way to stop him.”
Can echoed his coach’s sentiments, adding, “Mbappe is a player who can make a difference on his own. He has the ability to score goals and create opportunities for his teammates. It will be a collective effort from our team to limit his impact on the game.”
Dortmund will face a tough challenge against PSG, who boast a formidable attacking lineup including Mbappe, Neymar, and Mauro Icardi. However, Terzic and Can are confident in their team’s ability to compete.
“We have a talented squad with players who can make a difference as well,” Terzic said. “We need to stay focused and disciplined defensively, and take our chances when they come.”
Can added, “We have shown in the past that we can compete against the best teams in Europe. We have to believe in ourselves and play with confidence. If we execute our game plan and neutralize Mbappe, we have a good chance of achieving our goal.”
Dortmund will host PSG in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie on Tuesday, and both Terzic and Can are eager to get the match underway.
“We are excited for the challenge,” Terzic said. “The Champions League is a special competition, and we want to make our mark in it. We know it won’t be easy, but we are ready to give our all.”
Can concluded, “This is the stage where the best teams compete, and we want to prove that we belong among them. It will be a tough battle, but we are determined to come out on top. We are ready to fight for our dream.”
