Harry Kane acknowledges that the tournament was challenging after England’s loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Harry Kane expressed his disappointment as England suffered a 2-1 defeat against Spain in the final of Euro 2024. The match came alive in the second half, with Cole Palmer equalising for The Three Lions after Nico Williams had given Spain the lead. However, England failed to maintain their momentum and Mikel Oyarzabal capitalized in the 86th minute to secure victory for Spain.

Kane attributed England’s loss to tired legs and a tired mentality in the closing stages of the game. He acknowledged the challenges of the tournament and the resilience shown by himself and the team. Despite their efforts, falling at the final hurdle was a bitter disappointment for Kane and the entire squad.

This defeat marked Kane’s second loss in a major final for England, following their penalty shoot-out defeat against Italy at Euro 2020. He described the feeling of losing in a final as one of the toughest in football. Kane believed that England couldn’t maintain the same intensity and pressure, which ultimately cost them the game.

The defeat has raised doubts about Gareth Southgate’s future as England manager. Kane expressed his admiration for Southgate but stated that the decision lies with the manager himself. He emphasized that now is not the time to discuss Southgate’s future, as the team is currently focused on dealing with the disappointment of the loss.
