Euro 2024: Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, and Ally McCoist share their predictions for the tournament.
TNT Sports pundits Ally McCoist, Rio Ferdinand, and Joe Cole have shared their predictions for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament. The highly anticipated competition, set to take place in Germany, has sparked excitement among fans following the conclusion of domestic seasons across Europe.
While England, France, and hosts Germany are the favorites according to bookmakers, McCoist disagrees with the notion that England should be considered the frontrunners. He believes that France’s experience in winning international competitions gives them the edge. McCoist states, “I think France have already beaten them in the World Cup recently. It’s a flip of the coin between the two sides to be brutally honest.”
Ferdinand, on the other hand, believes that Germany should be considered one of the frontrunners due to their home advantage. He acknowledges the quality in England’s squad and deems them the number one team to beat. Ferdinand says, “I’m going with England as favorites. Jude Bellingham is a top player and probably the best player in La Liga at the moment. Harry Kane is the top goalscorer in Germany and you’ve got Phil Foden firing in England.”
Cole shares the sentiment that England and France are the favorites, but also includes Germany due to their home advantage. He states, “It’s England or France or Germany. I’d put Germany in there because of the home advantage. I’d put Germany up there with England and France.”
When asked for additional predictions, the pundits shared their thoughts on the Player of the Tournament, young player to watch out for, top goalscorer, and the dark horse team.
Ferdinand predicts Kylian Mbappe as the Player of the Tournament, while Cole selects Phil Foden and McCoist chooses Jude Bellingham.
In terms of the top goalscorer, Ferdinand and Cole both choose Harry Kane, while McCoist also selects Kane alongside Mbappe.
As for the dark horse team, Ferdinand selects Portugal, Cole chooses Scotland, and McCoist opts for Portugal.
With the tournament just around the corner, fans eagerly await to see if these predictions will come to fruition.
