Euro 2024: Jordan Pickford believes that England’s performance will improve once they reach their peak.

In the aftermath of England’s challenging draw with Denmark in Euro 2024, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has expressed his belief that the narrative surrounding the team will change once they hit their peak. Pickford also offered his unwavering support for manager Gareth Southgate.

Despite facing criticism for their performance in Frankfurt, England currently sit at the top of Group C with four points after two matches. Their final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday will determine their fate in the tournament.

Speaking to the press ahead of the crucial clash in Cologne, Pickford stated, “Everyone is behind the manager. He delivers our training sessions and meetings brilliantly, providing us with the right gameplan. Although we weren’t perfect against Denmark, we know we can improve. We have more to give in each game, so being on four points with room for improvement is a positive feeling.”

Pickford also emphasized the team’s calmness and confidence, stating, “We are fine, we are chilled, it is tournament football. The outside noise may suggest that we have to perform on Tuesday, but there is no need to panic. We haven’t reached our peak yet. The narrative will change once we start peaking, but for now, our focus is solely on Tuesday.”

One player who could potentially be included in the starting lineup against Slovenia is West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen. Having made an impact as a substitute against Denmark, Bowen’s energy and enthusiasm could be valuable from the start.

When asked about the atmosphere within the England camp, Bowen responded, “The mood is really high, and we try not to get involved in the outside world. We have a tight-knit group with a strong sense of togetherness. Despite not achieving two wins, we have four points, and we are currently leading the group. We have control over our own destiny. If we win on Tuesday, we progress to the knockout stages. However, we must respect Slovenia as they are a formidable side. Each game presents different challenges, and as a first-time tournament participant, I am learning that firsthand.”

As England prepares for their crucial match against Slovenia, the team remains focused and determined to prove their critics wrong. With the belief that their best is yet to come, the Three Lions are ready to face any obstacles that come their way.
