Euro 2024: England has no worries about injuries for the final, as Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane are both training before the match against Spain.
Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane have both recovered from their recent knocks and are expected to be fit for England’s Euro 2024 final against Spain. Trippier was substituted at half-time during the semi-final against the Netherlands, while Kane was taken off with 10 minutes to go. However, Gareth Southgate has confirmed that there are no injury concerns and both players are expected to be available for selection.
Southgate explained that he didn’t want to take any chances with Trippier, which is why he was substituted in the semi-final. However, there have been no scans and the team is confident that both players are okay. They will have a final training session on Saturday to assess their fitness further.
In the lead up to the final, one of Southgate’s big decisions will be who to start at left-back. Trippier, a right-footed player, has started in every match of the tournament so far. However, Luke Shaw has been slowly regaining match fitness and has impressed in his appearances. Shaw made his first appearance for England at the tournament in the quarter-final and played the majority of the semi-final.
Speaking about the final, Southgate expressed his admiration for the Spanish team. He acknowledged their excellence both with and without the ball and believes they deserve to be in the final. However, he also expressed hope that his team can rise to the occasion and continue their improvement with the ball. Southgate noted that they were initially inhibited at the start of the tournament but have become freer in their recent games.
