Euro 2024: Can you tell me who is currently at the top of the Golden Boot rankings? Also, do you know the number of goals that Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane have each scored so far in the tournament?

The battle for the Golden Boot at Euro 2024 is heating up as the best goalscorers in Europe compete for individual honours. The European Championship, currently taking place in Germany, has showcased some of the world’s top strikers.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who became the all-time leading scorer in the competition during Euro 2020, was the previous winner of the Golden Boot. He edged out Patrik Schick of the Czech Republic, who also scored five goals, by having more assists.

Antoine Griezmann of France claimed the Golden Boot in 2016 with six goals. Previous winners include Fernando Torres (2012), David Villa (2008), and Milan Baros (2004).

Griezmann has the opportunity to become the first two-time winner of the Golden Boot in Euros history, following Ronaldo’s elimination with Portugal. However, he faces tough competition.

Michel Platini, a legend of French football, holds the record for the most goals scored in a single edition of the European Championship with nine goals in 1984.

In the first semi-final of Euro 2024, Dani Olmo appeared to have a chance to level the standings, but his strike was marked as an own-goal for France defender Jules Kounde.

Here are the current standings for the Euro 2024 Golden Boot:

3 goals:
– Georges Mikautadze (Georgia)
– Jamal Musiala (Germany)
– Ivan Schranz (Slovakia)
– Cody Gakpo (Netherlands)

2 goals:
– Kai Havertz (Germany)
– Harry Kane (England)
– Jude Bellingham (England)
– Niclas Fullkrug (Germany)
– Fabian Ruiz (Spain)
– Razvan Marin (Romania)
– Donyell Malen (Netherlands)
– Merih Demiral (Turkey)

In the event of a tie, the player with the most assists will be awarded the Golden Boot. If there is still a tie, the player with the fewest minutes played will win. Prior to 2008, the award was shared if there were multiple top scorers.

Own goals have also played a role in the tournament, with 10 scored so far. This could surpass the record of 11 own goals set in Euro 2020. Players such as Antonio Rudiger, Maximilian Wober, and Robin Hranac have unfortunately found the back of their own net.

Before the start of Euro 2024, there had only been 20 own goals in the history of the European Championship.
