Erling Haaland emerges victorious as the recipient of the prestigious title of Best Men’s Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards.
Erling Haaland, the sensational Manchester City striker, has been crowned the Best Men’s Player of the Year at the prestigious Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. This accolade comes as no surprise, considering Haaland’s remarkable performance on the field.
In just 15 Premier League games this season, he has already scored an impressive 14 goals. Not to mention, in his debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium, he netted a staggering 52 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions.
Unfortunately, Haaland has been sidelined with a foot injury since City’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in December. However, the Norwegian star is eager to make his return to action soon. “I hope to be back really soon because I’m getting a bit sick of not playing,” Haaland expressed upon receiving his award.
He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the support he has received at Manchester City, stating, “The people have helped me settle in and perform at Manchester City. The manager, Pep Guardiola, is not so bad as well. It’s a fantastic club, and the support we get from the administration and the leaders is massive. It’s a nice club, and I enjoy being here.”
During the interview, Haaland was also asked about his ringtone, which has become quite famous. He confirmed that he still has the UEFA Champions League theme song as his ringtone. This tune holds a special place in his heart as it was added before City’s historic triumph in Istanbul last year, where they defeated Inter Milan 1-0 thanks to a goal from Rodri. “I do still have the Champions League song as my ringtone,” Haaland chuckled. “I love the competition, and it was a big dream when we won it. A fantastic feeling.”
Currently, Pep Guardiola’s side sits in second place in the Premier League table, level on points with third-placed Aston Villa and just two points behind league leaders Liverpool. With a game in hand over Unai Emery’s Villa, the Sky Blues have a great opportunity to climb to the top.
Their next match will be against Burnley in the Premier League, followed by a trip to face Brentford on February 5th.
