Edin Terzic assures that Jadon Sancho has much more to offer in the future.
Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic believes that Jadon Sancho still has more to offer after the winger played a crucial role in helping the team reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Sancho, who returned to Dortmund on loan in January following a challenging period at Manchester United, has started to display glimpses of his true potential, which convinced the Premier League giants to pay £75 million for his services.
Terzic addressed the recent criticism faced by Sancho, stating, “Seven days ago, everyone was asking me about when he will return to form and when he will start scoring. There was a lot of criticism last week, but we can see that he is enjoying being with us and playing.” The Dortmund manager believes that Sancho’s return to the Bundesliga has given him a boost and expects his performances to continue improving.
Terzic emphasized the importance of Sancho’s happiness, saying, “He’s enjoying being with his teammates on and off the pitch, and Jadon is a player who needs to smile. If he’s smiling, then he will shine on the pitch, and it’s really important for us that he can perform like this. He has done really well in the last two games, and I think tonight was his best performance. We know there is a lot more to come from him.”
Sancho himself expressed his relief at scoring his first UEFA Champions League goal of the campaign and repaying the club’s faith in him. He said, “I’ve always had a special place for Borussia Dortmund – this is where I made my name. I am grateful to them, but also to my teammates, for believing in me. I am just happy that we got the win today.”
Former England manager Glenn Hoddle also praised Sancho’s performance, highlighting his newfound confidence on the pitch. Hoddle said, “He’s going into places where at United, he just wouldn’t go. He’s going into awkward places where he might get kicked or marked heavily. He wants the ball. In the first half, especially, he wanted the ball so many times. He got annoyed if it didn’t come. That’s when you’re confident. That’s when you’re on top of your game.”
