Eberechi Eze credits his past experiences of being turned down as the foundation for his development into the player he is today at Crystal Palace.
Eberechi Eze, the talented forward for Crystal Palace, has spoken about how overcoming adversity earlier in his career has helped him become one of the brightest talents in the Premier League.
Eze will have the opportunity to showcase his skills to TNT Sports viewers when Crystal Palace face Arsenal on Saturday.
Eze has become a fan favorite at Selhurst Park and even caught the attention of England coach Gareth Southgate, earning two international caps. However, his path to the Premier League was far from easy.
He was released by Arsenal, Fulham, Reading, and Millwall before finally finding a home at Queens Park Rangers in 2016.
Reflecting on his journey, Eze said, “I feel grateful to have experienced that because it has given me part of the character needed to handle this (success) with grace. It is struggles like that that have helped me and allow me to operate in this realm without getting carried away and taking things for granted, and appreciating the small things.”
Under the guidance of Palace manager Roy Hodgson, Eze has flourished and credits the veteran coach for shaping his game.
“When I first came, he talked about the No. 10s he had coached,” Eze revealed. “It was a journey and learning how he wants to play, his style of play, and I feel over time I have been able to express myself a bit more. I think he has noticed that, seen that, and he understands what I need to be at my best and he has helped me massively.”
For those looking to watch the Arsenal vs Crystal Palace match, it will be broadcasted live on TNT Sports 1 and ultimate. Coverage will begin at 11:00 on Saturday, January 20, with kick-off at 12:30.
