Dusan Vlahovic’s brace propels Juventus to the summit of Serie A with a resounding 3-0 victory over Lecce.
Dusan Vlahovic was the hero for Juventus as they secured a hard-fought 3-0 victory over Lecce, propelling them to the top of Serie A. The home side put up a strong resistance, but Vlahovic’s brace, along with a late goal from Bremer, proved to be enough for the reigning champions.
The first half was largely uneventful, with neither team able to create many clear-cut chances. Lecce had the better of the openings, with Nikola Krstovic squandering two half chances. His first effort went wide, and his second attempt, following a well-placed cross, sailed over the bar.
Despite their lofty position in the league, Juventus struggled to break down Lecce’s resolute defense in the opening period. Their attacks often fizzled out, leaving them frustrated.
However, Juventus came out with more purpose in the second half. They were unlucky not to take the lead when Weston Mckennie’s header was saved after a well-taken corner. Moments later, Vlahovic had a chance to put his team ahead, but his header missed the target.
Nevertheless, Juventus continued to press and their persistence paid off when Vlahovic found the back of the net. A hopeful cross into the Lecce box was met by the Serbian forward, who scuffed a volley past the goalkeeper to give Juve the lead.
Vlahovic wasn’t done yet, as he doubled his tally shortly after. Another header from McKennie seemed destined for the far corner, but Vlahovic, displaying his poaching instincts, made sure to get a touch on the ball and secure the victory for his team.
A late goal from Bremer put the result beyond doubt, sealing a comprehensive win for Juventus. The reigning champions are enjoying a fantastic campaign and are putting pressure on Inter Milan in the title race. Both teams are fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead as they battle for the coveted Serie A crown.
