Conor Gallagher, the Chelsea midfielder, dismisses transfer rumors in order to concentrate on England’s Euro 2024 journey.
Bellingham and Co enjoyed England’s first public training session in Germany. It was a joyous occasion for Jude Bellingham and his teammates. The Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, also made headlines as he dismissed speculation about his club future and expressed his focus on the upcoming Euro 2024 with England.
Gallagher, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, remains committed to his current task in Germany. Aston Villa and Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing him, but Gallagher insists that his priority is the tournament.
“I’m a Chelsea player right now, but I’m just thinking about England and the tournament,” Gallagher stated. “This is the most important thing right now for me, for the country. I just want to start the tournament now. It’s not difficult. I’m in a very privileged position to play for England and be at a tournament like this. I couldn’t be happier with the situation I’m in.”
Gallagher also took the time to pay tribute to Pochettino for his role in his development as a player and the impact it has had on his England prospects. The former Chelsea manager entrusted Gallagher with the captain’s armband last season, which boosted his confidence and performance.
“I’ve come a long way this season. I give a lot of credit to Pochettino and what he’s done for me,” Gallagher said. “He gave me responsibility and trust at Chelsea. It puts me in a better position to be a bigger part of the England squad at this tournament. If a manager shows you a bit of love, it makes you play better, long story short. It gives you confidence, and that’s what he gave me.”
Despite being an unused squad player at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Gallagher is now in contention to start England’s tournament opener against Serbia on Sunday. Manager Gareth Southgate was pleased with Gallagher’s performance in England’s 3-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina last week, and the midfielder believes it was his best performance in an England shirt.
“I believe so,” Gallagher said. “The manager actually said that to me this morning as well, so it’s really positive.”
The England team is looking strong and focused as they prepare for their upcoming matches in the Euro 2024 tournament. With players like Bellingham and Gallagher in their ranks, they have a promising chance of success.
