Chelsea is getting ready to offload nine players in the upcoming summer transfer window as they plan for another squad overhaul.
Raheem Sterling, the talented forward from Chelsea FC, was seen warming up ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round match against Leeds United. It seems that Chelsea is planning a major clearout this summer, with seven first-team squad players on the chopping block. The Sun reports that the club is also looking to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga and Romelu Lukaku, who are currently on loan, permanently. Additionally, the likes of Conor Gallagher, Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, and Thiago Silva could also be departing Stamford Bridge.
According to The Sun, Chelsea is gearing up for an extensive transfer quest in the upcoming transfer window. The club is keen on strengthening specialist areas and is particularly interested in signing a free-scoring striker. SunSport exclusively revealed Chelsea’s interest in Brentford star Ivan Toney. Furthermore, there are plans to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga and Romelu Lukaku to Saudi Arabian sides once their respective loans at Real Madrid and Roma come to an end.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is already drawing up a shortlist of potential managers to replace Erik ten Hag, as reported by the Daily Mail. Gareth Southgate, the current England boss, has emerged as a preferred choice for new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. However, Southgate has made it clear that he will not entertain any discussions with clubs while he is in charge of the national team. Other potential options include Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel, Julen Lopetegui, Zinedine Zidane, Ruben Amorim, Julian Nagelsmann, and even Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
Barcelona is hoping to keep Joao Cancelo from Manchester City and Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, both of whom are currently on loan at the club until the end of the season. President Joan Laporta expressed his desire to retain the duo and mentioned the possibility of arranging loan deals if necessary. Laporta believes that both Cancelo and Felix will stay at Barcelona beyond their loan spells, but the final decision will depend on financial considerations.
In another managerial news, Xabi Alonso, who is wanted to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, might instead opt for Bayern Munich, according to the Mirror. Bayern Munich is in search of a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who is set to leave at the end of the season. Alonso, who currently manages Bayer Leverkusen, is more likely to choose Bayern Munich over Liverpool. Leverkusen is currently sitting at the top of the Bundesliga table, 10 points clear of second-place Bayern, and unbeaten in 38 matches this season. The allure of returning to both Liverpool and Bayern, where Alonso had successful playing careers, is strong. However, if he decides to leave Leverkusen, Bayern has a better chance of securing his services for the next season.
