Brighton lost to Roma with a score of 1-0, making their spirited exit from the UEFA Europa League despite Danny Welbeck’s impressive goal.

AS Roma secured their spot in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals despite suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton on Thursday. The Seagulls’ Danny Welbeck managed to find the back of the net, but it was not enough to overturn Roma’s dominant first-leg performance, with the Italian side advancing 4-1 on aggregate.

Roma were left feeling unlucky as Sardar Azmoun’s impressive goal was disallowed. The striker executed a brilliant overhead kick, sending the ball over Bart Verbruggen’s head, but unfortunately, it was ruled out due to a high boot.

Shortly after, Brighton launched a swift attack down the left wing, with Welbeck combining with Pervis Estupinan before unleashing a powerful shot into the top right corner. This goal gave the hosts a glimmer of hope for a remarkable comeback.

However, just like in the first leg in Rome, Brighton struggled to convert their chances in front of goal, allowing Roma to hold on and secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Despite the defeat, Roma can be proud of their overall performance in the tie, showcasing their dominance and quality throughout both legs. They will now eagerly await the draw for the next round, as they continue their journey in the Europa League.
