Bournemouth and Manchester United drew 2-2, with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice for Erik ten Hag’s team in the Premier League match.
In a thrilling Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, Dominic Solanke etched his name in Bournemouth’s history books as their all-time leading scorer in the top flight. However, Manchester United fought back valiantly, thanks to the brilliance of Bruno Fernandes, to salvage a fortunate point in a 2-2 draw.
The home side dominated proceedings in the first half, bombarding the United goal with relentless attacks. Solanke, in scintillating form, found the back of the net with a thunderous strike in the 16th minute, taking his tally for the season to an impressive 17 goals.
But Fernandes, the talismanic Portuguese midfielder, had other ideas. He unleashed a venomous volley from close range in the 31st minute, leveling the scoreline and showcasing his exceptional skill.
However, Bournemouth quickly regained their advantage, with Justin Kluivert finding the back of the net with a superb finish just five minutes later, capitalizing on some sloppy play from United.
As the match wore on, it seemed like Bournemouth would secure all three points. However, Fernandes had different plans. In the 65th minute, he coolly converted a penalty after Adam Smith handled Kobbie Mainoo’s deflected shot, rescuing an unlikely point for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Despite the draw, United’s struggles in the league continued, with only one win in their last seven matches. They currently sit in seventh place, behind Newcastle on goal difference.
On the other hand, Bournemouth finished the season unbeaten against United for the first time and currently occupy 12th place in the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, Fernandes was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. The Portuguese captain’s creative magic and quality were on full display, as he single-handedly salvaged a draw for his team. He was unlucky not to find the back of the net again, as a long-range effort rattled the crossbar in the first half.
Although United’s style of play may not be the most entertaining at the moment, their resilience and the brilliance of Fernandes ensured they secured a valuable point on a challenging evening.
