Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid will not be able to play in the UEFA Champions League final due to an injury.

Aurelien Tchouameni’s hopes of featuring in the Champions League final have been dashed, according to Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. The French central midfielder has been sidelined for the past three weeks due to a fracture in his left foot sustained during the semi-final victory over Bayern Munich.

Tchouameni was substituted after Madrid fell behind 1-0 in the second leg, but his team rallied to secure a 15th European crown. Since then, he has missed matches against Girona, Alaves, and Villarreal.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Madrid’s final league game, Ancelotti confirmed that Tchouameni will not be available for the upcoming matches and also cast doubt on his participation in the European Championships. The Italian stated, “He is doing individual work but he is not ready for the final. Let’s see if he’s ready for the Euros.”

The only other injury concern for Ancelotti ahead of the Wembley final against Borussia Dortmund is David Alaba. Tchouameni, who joined Los Blancos in 2022, has already won several major trophies with the club, including the UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, Copa del Rey, Supercopa, and Liga titles. The Champions League remains the only missing piece in his collection.

To secure the trophy in Tchouameni’s absence, his teammates will have to overcome the underdogs Dortmund. Additionally, a victory over Real Betis in their final league game would see Madrid reach an impressive tally of 97 points in La Liga.

If Tchouameni can recover in time for Euro 2024, where France are the favorites according to bookmakers, he will have the opportunity to lift a second international trophy. The midfielder made his debut in August 2021, shortly after the delayed Euro 2020. He went on to win the UEFA Nations League and reached the final of the 2022 World Cup, where France lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout. Tchouameni was one of two French players to miss from the spot.

Before their trip to Germany for Euro 2024, Les Bleus have two warm-up games against Luxembourg and Canada. Their first tournament fixture is against Austria on June 17, giving Tchouameni approximately three and a half more weeks to recover.
