Mohamed Salah, the star forward for Liverpool FC, couldn’t hide his disappointment during the UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Quarter-Final second leg match against Atalanta at Stadio di Bergamo on April 18, 2024 in Bergamo, Italy.

Despite Salah finding the back of the net, Liverpool’s dreams of a remarkable comeback were shattered as they were eliminated from the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Atalanta.

Jurgen Klopp’s side faced an almost insurmountable challenge after suffering a shocking 3-0 defeat in the first leg at Anfield. Unfortunately, their efforts fell short as La Dea advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score.

Liverpool got off to a promising start when Salah scored his 24th goal of the season from the penalty spot just seven minutes into the game. However, the Egyptian squandered a golden opportunity to extend Liverpool’s lead when he missed a lobbed shot after being sent clear by Cody Gakpo.

Atalanta showed improvement in the second half and had a chance to equalize, but Ederson’s shot went straight into the hands of Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alisson.
