Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is excited about the busy end of the Premier League season, calling it the most enjoyable part of the year.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, is eagerly anticipating the “most beautiful part of the season” as the battle for the Premier League title intensifies between his team, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
As Arsenal prepare to face Aston Villa on Sunday, Arteta acknowledges that they will already know the results of Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace and City’s match against Luton Town. However, he emphasizes the importance of remaining focused on their own game.
Arteta stated, “We will know the results but we’ll still have our duty to win our game which is the only thing that we can control. That’s happened a few times already and it’s going to happen again in the next few weeks, so we’ll just focus on what we can do, what we can control and make sure that we perform like we have to do against a really good side to try to beat them.”
Regarding Arsenal’s momentum, Arteta expressed his desire to continue their winning streak. He recognizes that the upcoming schedule is demanding but believes his team is capable of overcoming the challenges they will face.
“It’s really good and we want to carry on going. It’s the most beautiful part of the season coming up right now and a very busy schedule. We’re going to have a really tough game against a really good side, and are we going to have to be really good to beat them.”
In addition to their Premier League fixtures, Arsenal is also competing for their first UEFA Champions League title. They are set to face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena with the aggregate score tied at 2-2 in their quarter-final clash.
Arteta spoke about the positive energy within the team despite the pressure they are under. He believes that the motivation and excitement among the players are driving them to achieve more.
“I think it’s the motivation. They are super excited about what we are doing and the way the team is performing – they want more. We know the challenge ahead of us and how good we have to be to win it, but we are going to try.”
As for their upcoming match against Aston Villa, Arteta praised the work done by Villa’s former manager, Unai Emery, in transforming the club. He acknowledges the threat posed by Villa, who are currently chasing a Champions League spot, and emphasizes the importance of securing a victory.
“What they have done since Unai came in – they have made a huge impact on the club. They are still in a European competition and I am really impressed with what they have done. We don’t know what they are going to do. They won last night and they are a good side. We know they’re dangerous and their strengths – we will try to win it.”
With Arsenal leading Liverpool by a positive nine-goal difference and both teams tied on 71 points, the race for the Premier League title remains incredibly close. Manchester City, just one point behind, is also in contention.
