Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed that Ben White has been shown a great deal of support following his decision to play for England.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed the decision made by defender Ben White to make himself unavailable for England selection. White opted to miss the recent international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, which disappointed England boss Gareth Southgate. However, Arteta stated that White has received a lot of support and has been respected for his decision. He also emphasized that it is ultimately up to White if he wants to represent his country in the future. The exact reasons behind White’s choice remain unknown, and prior to the international break, Southgate denied rumors of a disagreement between White and assistant manager Steve Holland.

In addition to discussing White’s situation, Arteta expressed his admiration for his former employer Pep Guardiola, who he will face as Arsenal takes on Manchester City in a top-of-the-table clash. Arteta worked as an assistant to Guardiola before taking charge at Arsenal and still holds great respect for him, referring to him as the best coach in the world.

Currently, Arsenal sits at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, with Liverpool level on points in second place and Manchester City just one point behind in third. However, Arteta’s injury concerns were heightened during the international break when Bukayo Saka picked up a knock and had to leave England duty early. Saka has been a crucial player for Arsenal this season, contributing 13 goals and eight assists.

Despite the injury concerns, Arteta remains hopeful that Saka, as well as Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli, will be available for the match against Manchester City. Although they haven’t trained, there is a chance they could be ready for the game.
