Arsenal Awaiting Brentford’s Toney as Bayern Eye Tomiyasu
Toney’s transfer to Arsenal in January seems unlikely as Brentford has decided to hold onto him until the summer. According to The Telegraph, the club aims to address their lack of goals by keeping Toney, who is currently under a betting ban, and developing him further under the guidance of manager Thomas Frank. With the potential absence of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa due to the Africa Cup of Nations, Brentford’s reliance on Toney becomes even more evident. The club had considered selling him last season, but due to his ban and contract situation, it is likely that the upcoming transfer window in the summer will be their final opportunity to secure a substantial fee for him.
Bernardo Silva has expressed his interest in returning to Benfica in the future. While he had contemplated a move to Saudi Arabia previously, he decided to extend his contract with Manchester City in order to chase further success in the Champions League. Nevertheless, he has been open about his desire to go back to his childhood club, mentioning that if Benfica is interested, a reunion could be possible. Bayern Munich has shown interest in securing the services of Takehiro Tomiyasu, a defender currently playing for Arsenal. According to The Mirror, Bayern views Tomiyasu as a more feasible option compared to their initial preference, Raphael Varane from Manchester United. Bayern is keen on bolstering their defense due to a lackluster beginning to the season, and Tomiyasu has made a strong impression since joining Arsenal from Bologna in August 2021. Discussions regarding a contract extension between Tomiyasu and Arsenal are expected to commence. Juventus is keeping a close watch on Lewis Ferguson, the talented midfielder from Bologna, who has been impressing in Serie A ever since leaving Aberdeen. If Ferguson were to depart from Bologna in January, Aberdeen would receive a substantial sum of £2 million as part of the agreement. Juventus, however, seems determined to secure his services by potentially offering a significant £17.5 million for the 24-year-old Scottish international, successfully outbidding other prominent clubs like AC Milan and Lazio. Ferguson’s consistent progress has not gone unnoticed by top-tier teams, and Juventus is eager to ensure he becomes a part of their squad.
