Arne Slot didn’t raise his voice, but he helped the Liverpool players understand that their performance in the first half against Brighton was insufficient.

**Liverpool’s Resilience Boosts Slot’s Confidence for the Season Ahead**

Arne Slot, the Liverpool manager, revealed that he had to deliver some stern words to his players during the half-time break of their thrilling encounter against Brighton. Trailing 1-0 at Anfield, the Reds faced a challenging first half, with the visitors taking an early lead through Ferdi Kadioglu. The home side struggled to find their rhythm in the opening 45 minutes, but they emerged from the tunnel with renewed determination in the second half.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah turned the tide, securing a vital 2-1 victory that propelled Liverpool to the top of the Premier League. “Credit to Brighton for the way they showed up,” Slot remarked after the match. “We didn’t show up at all in every part of the game.”

After a lacklustre first half, Liverpool came out firing in the second period, creating several opportunities to level the score. Alexis MacAllister, Virgil van Dijk, and Salah all came close, but it was Gakpo and Salah who ultimately found the back of the net to clinch the three points.

“If you face a good team like Brighton, it’s not enough,” Slot continued. “We changed a bit of tactics. The players showed a different attitude and a different intensity. I wasn’t screaming; it was just about making sure the players realised this wasn’t enough.”

The transformation in the second half was evident, with Liverpool dominating possession and creating chances. Slot expressed his satisfaction with the response from his players, stating, “To come back so strong against a good-quality team today gives me a lot of confidence. We need to show up from the start. Our fans were incredible in the second half; the loudest crowd since I’ve been here.”

Slot also noted the importance of adapting when chances are missed, saying, “If you create your chances and it doesn’t go in, you do change. I don’t think anyone in the second half deserved to be taken out. It wasn’t that much of a risk when 1-0 down to bring on players who can score a goal. They brought intensity without the ball and quality with it.”

This victory marks a significant milestone for Slot, as he has now achieved the most wins of any Liverpool manager in their opening ten top-flight games, with eight victories to his name.

However, the match was not without its concerns, as Ibrahima Konate was withdrawn at half-time due to an arm injury. Slot confirmed that the defender was in “a lot of pain,” but it remains unclear how serious the injury is. “It was disappointing that he had to go off,” Slot admitted. “The good thing is I have two other good options in Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez. We don’t know the extent yet. He was in a lot of pain. He hasn’t been to the hospital, so maybe he doesn’t need to. It’s always tough to judge straight away, but Joe deserved the trust I gave him today.”

As Liverpool look to build on this momentum, Slot’s confidence in his squad will be crucial as they navigate the challenges of the season ahead.
