Ally McCoist believes that Harry Kane has reached new levels of performance since joining Bayern.
Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich has taken his game to another level, according to Ally McCoist. The England striker had an impressive first season in Germany, scoring 36 league goals and providing eight assists. Despite missing out on the league title, McCoist believes Kane has proven himself as a complete striker by breaking records in an inconsistent Bayern side.
McCoist stated, “I think the move to Bayern has confirmed what everybody thought, that he can score goals at any level in any company. His record at Tottenham was fabulous, but to go to Germany and play in a Bayern side and score the number of goals that he has done tells you all you need to know about Harry Kane.”
Although McCoist acknowledged that Kane may not possess lightning acceleration like Kylian Mbappe, he believes the England captain has the complete package. “He’s got the whole range of finishes in his artillery. Headers, near post penalties, shots from outside the box, left foot, right foot. He’s got the whole lot!” McCoist exclaimed.
Furthermore, McCoist praised Kane’s intelligence on the pitch, highlighting his ability to drop into different areas and link up with teammates. “He can drop into areas and pick the ball up in a number 10 position. If midfielders go by him, centre-backs have to go with the runner. He’s a great passer of the ball and a really intelligent footballer.”
Despite his success in Germany, Kane still has the opportunity to end the season with silverware if he can lead England to victory in a major international tournament for the first time since 1966. McCoist concluded by stating, “Harry Kane is arguably the best number nine in the business or world football at this moment. His goal return has been nothing short of outstanding.”
