Ademola Lookman’s goal propels the Super Eagles to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, as Nigeria secures a 2-0 victory over Cameroon.

Nigeria’s forward Ademola Lookman stole the show as he scored twice to lead his team to a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 match. Lookman, who has previously played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester, found the back of the net in both halves to secure The Super Eagles’ spot in the quarter-finals.

The game started with a scare for Cameroon as Semi Ajayi’s effort was disallowed due to an offside call by VAR. However, in the 36th minute, Lookman capitalized on a pass from Victor Osimhen and managed to squeeze his shot past goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, who was chosen over Manchester United’s Andre Onana.

Nigeria’s attack was fueled by the energetic Osimhen, who continued to create opportunities for his team in the second half. Lookman came close to scoring again with a free-kick that narrowly missed the target.

Unfortunately, Nigeria suffered a setback when goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili was forced off the field due to injury in the 75th minute, despite not having to make a single save. Cameroon attempted to turn the tide by bringing on Vincent Aboubakar, who was making his first appearance in the tournament. However, the striker failed to make an impact in the remaining minutes of the game.

Lookman sealed the victory for Nigeria with a composed finish from Calvin Bassey’s cross in stoppage time. With this win, Nigeria now sets their sights on a clash with Angola in the quarter-finals. The Super Eagles will be hoping to continue their impressive form and advance further in the Africa Cup of Nations.
