According to the latest reports, Manchester United is formulating a £100 million strategy to acquire Jadon Sancho and other players. On the other hand, rumors suggest that Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson could be departing the club.
Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United has been met with mixed reactions. The English winger, who was signed by United for a whopping £100m, has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford. Now, United are looking to offload Sancho in the summer transfer window, hoping to recoup around £50m for the player.
This move is part of United’s £100m plan, which also includes the potential sale of Antony and Casemiro. The club’s director of football, John Murtough, has been working on building connections with Saudi Pro League and Saudi Ministry of Sport officials, with the aim of selling players in the summer. Casemiro, who has been out with an ankle injury since October, is the player most wanted by Saudi clubs. United are open to selling the 31-year-old midfielder for the right price. There is also speculation that Raphael Varane could move to Saudi, but United are unlikely to receive a transfer fee for him.
Gibbs-White in, Almiron out?
Newcastle United are facing a battle to hold onto their star players in the January transfer window. However, it is expected that a summer rebuild is on the horizon for the club. One player who has been linked with a move away is Miguel Almiron, with reports suggesting interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab. However, these reports are said to be premature. Newcastle may look to replace Almiron with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been closely monitored by the club’s scouting team. Talks are ongoing, and there is a possibility that Almiron could be sold before the end of the month, with the funds potentially being used to sign Everton’s Amadou Onana or another midfield target. Despite Newcastle’s interest, Forest are likely to resist any bid, meaning a deal may not be reached before the transfer deadline.
AC Milan eye Wilson
Another player who could be on his way out of Newcastle is Callum Wilson. AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing the 31-year-old striker on a permanent deal this month. Wilson would be open to the move if a fee was accepted, although Atletico Madrid have already had a loan offer rejected. If Wilson were to leave, Newcastle would need to find a suitable replacement. RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has been on their radar, but his release clause does not come into effect until the summer. Wilson still has 18 months left on his contract, so any significant offer would force Newcastle into making a big decision. Manager Eddie Howe is determined to keep hold of his number nine, who is set to return from a calf injury this month.
Phillips close to West Ham loan
West Ham United are leading the race to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City. The England international has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle. However, it is now Juventus who are most likely to swoop in and secure the midfielder’s signature. Newcastle were put off by City’s terms for any deal, as they were demanding a £6m loan fee. West Ham, on the other hand, are open to signing Phillips on a permanent deal at the end of the season, although his wages at City could pose a problem. The details of the deal are still being finalized, but West Ham are hopeful of completing the transfer early this week.
